5 things to know before going into the studio.

1. Have the arrangement of your song planned out. The best way to do this is to chart it down including the chord changes. As much information as possible will save you time and money in the studio.

2. Know the tempo’s of your songs. Make sure you and your band practice with a metronome. This one always seems to be very difficult to really make happen but is probably one of the biggest things that separates the pros from the amateurs.

3. Determine in advance who will play solo’s and how long the solo will last.

4. Often times it takes just as long to mix your recording as it does to actually record it. Sometimes even longer. Depending on the studio you go to, there may be some more steps you need to take before it’s ready to go to press.

5. Be on time. Many studio’s bill you for the actual time you book the studio so be sure to arrive early with all of the accessories you need to perform your best. New sticks, drum heads, water, guitar strings, picks, snacks, and whatever else you can think of that you might need.
